The Booth Theatre was named to honor the renowned 19th-century American actor, Edwin Booth, brother of John Wilkes Booth.<br>The Booth Theatre was the first, and to this day is the oldest, Broadway theatre to be named after an actor.<br>Claudia<br>, based on Rose Franken's 1939 novel, it premiered as a play on<br>Broadway<br>in 1941. The play was written and directed by Rose Franken and produced by<br>John Golden<br>. The show starred<br>Dorothy McGuire<br>as Claudia Naughton and<br>Donald Cook<br>as David Naughton.
